Rivalry Week For EKU Baseball Begins With Road Game At NKU, Before Hosting Morehead State This Weeknd

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky will play at Northern Kentucky on Wednesday before hosting Morehead State for a three-game conference series at Earle Combs Stadium this weekend.
 
Wednesday's game against the Norse is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series with Northern Kentucky 19-13-1. 
 
-  The Colonels have won three in a row in the series, including two victories last season by scores of 17-2 and 11-8. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (11-2) swept a three-game series at home against Norfolk State last weekend and have won seven in a row overall.
 
-  The Colonels received votes in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Poll.
 
-  Over their last seven games, the Colonels are averaging 10.8 runs per game.
 
-  In the first six games of the season, Eastern scored a total of 33 runs.  In its last seven games, EKU scored 76 runs.  The Colonels hit .381 in those games, raising their team batting average from .241 to .319.
 
-  Senior catcher A.J. Lewis ranks among the top-40 in the nation in seven categories.  He is batting .489 with 15 runs, three home runs and 21 RBIs this season.
 
Jacob Ferris was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week.  He tossed a complete game, 3-hit shutout with 10 strike outs to lead EKU to a 6-0 win over Norfolk State on Saturday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
Louis Davenport III, a junior right-hander, is expected to start on the mound for the Colonels.  He is 2-0 this season with one save.  He earned one of his wins against No. 11 LSU.  In four appearances, he has a 4.76 ERA and 15 strike outs in 11 and one-third innings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Northern Kentucky is 0-16 this season.  The Norse have played series against Troy, Furman, Samford and Dayton, and a single game at Tennessee.  
 
-  Redshirt senior outfielder Jake Murray leads the team with a .333 average and 11 runs scored.  
 
-  Junior infielder Andrew Bacon is hitting .306 with 10 runs and a team-high 13 RBIs.
 
-  Left-hander Noah Richardson will start for the Norse.  The sophomore has an 0-2 record and a 15.00 ERA in nine innings of work this season.
