RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University track and field team returns to action on Saturday at Louisville's PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, held at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center.
 
Field events start with the women's weight throw at 10 a.m., while track events open with the women's 60-meters at 2 p.m. The meet concludes with the men's 4x400 meter relay at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to spectators. Parking will be five dollars per person with a maximum charge of 15 dollars per car.
 
Participating teams include Arkansas State, Cincinnati, EKU, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana State, Louisville, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Notre Dame, South Florida, Southern Illinois, Vanderbilt, and Western Kentucky.
 
All-American Ahmed Jaziri will also make his season debut in the 3,000 meters at the IU Relays in Bloomington this weekend. His race is set to go off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Jaziri owns the EKU record in the indoor 3,000 meters at 7:53.19.
 
Several Colonels currently rank in the top-5 in the ASUN in their respective events.
 
Senior Quantasia Perry is No. 1 in the women's 200 meters (school-record 24.00) and No. 2 in the 60 meters (7.52). Freshman Madison Fleming is No. 1 in the women's 60-meter hurdles (8.68). Fellow freshman Aniya Matthews is No. 2 in the women's 200 meters (24.29). Newcomers Alicia Recio (No. 2 / 57.0) and Felicia Phillips (No. 4 / 57.80) both hold top-5 spots in the women's 400 meters. On the distance side, Jone Zabaleta Larranaga is No. 4 in the women's mile (4:54.13), while sophomore Anouk van Gils is No. 5 in the women's 3,000 meters (9:54.79).
 
For the EKU men, senior Jackson Siddall is currently ranked No. 3 in the 3,000 meters (8:12.59), while junior Drew Sawyers is No. 4 in the 400 meters (50.26).
 
The track and field Colonels return to action next weekend at the Bellarmine Classic and the Camel City Invitational.
