EKU Baseball Hosts Marshall And Dayton This Week

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Coming off a weekend series victory EKU will play two midweek games this week, taking on Marshall on Tuesday and Dayton on Wednesday.
 
Both games will begin at 4 p.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series with Marshall 38-24.  Eastern Kentucky is 13-8-1 all-time against Dayton.
 
-  The Colonels have won two in a row against Marshall, including a 2-1 decision last season on March 9 in Richmond.  Charlie Ludwick went 2-for-3 and Will Brian earned the save.  Dayton beat EKU in the last meeting between the two teams on March 24, 2021.  Logan Thomason had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU took two out of three against Ohio over the weekend to move to 3-4 on the season.
 
-  In four games last week, Roderick Criss II batted .455 with three runs scored.  Sebastian Greico hit .444 with three runs and four RBIs in the last four games.
 
-  Jordan Fox made two appearances against Ohio and did not allow a run in four innings of work.  He struck out five.
 
-  EKU's pitching staff is fourth in the ASUN Conference with 74 strikeouts.
 
-  Eastern Kentucky is tied for third in the conference with 14 doubles.
 
-  Isaac Milburn will get the start on the mound on Tuesday.  The 6-foot freshman left-hander is 0-0 this season with a 2.45 ERA over three and two-thirds innings.
 
-  Niko Leontarakis is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against Dayton.  He is 1-0 this season with a 0.00 ERA.  In seven innings, the senior right-hander has allowed five hits, three walks and struck out 11 batters.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Marshall is 5-3 this season with four straight wins over St. Bonaventure and Northeastern.  The Thundering Herd's three losses have come to Ohio State, BYU and Indiana State.
 
-  Cole Williams, a sophomore outfielder, leads the team with a .382 batting average.  Kyle Schaefer, a 6-foot-4 junior catcher, is batting .314 with three home runs and nine RBIs.
 
-  In two relief appearances this season, 6-foot-6 righty Patrick Copen has a 1-0 record and a 0.90 ERA over 10 innings.
 
-  Dayton is 5-1 in 2022.  The Flyers opened the season by sweeping North Carolina A&T and then won two of three at Evansville over the weekend.
 
-  Junior third baseman Keagan Calero is batting a team-best .400 with six runs scored.  Second baseman Ben Jones is hitting .375 with a team-high six RBIs.
 
-  Left-hander Cody Whitten will start for Dayton.  He is 1-0 this year with a 5.40 ERA.  In two relief appearances the redshirt junior has walked four and struck out four in three and one-third innings.
