EKU Homestand Continues With Three Against North Alabama

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky play host to North Alabama this weekend.
 
Friday's game will begin at 6 p.m.  Saturday's contest is scheduled for 4 p.m.  The first two games will air live on ESPN+.  The series finale is set for noon on Sunday.

The legendary former Colonel Earle B. Combs will be honored on Friday with an Earle Combs throwback t-shirt giveaway.  Saturday is Military Appreciation Day.  EKU will honor all active and retired service members throughout the day.  Service members can check in at the ticket table to receive a $5 off concession voucher for the game.  The second pack of exclusive EKU baseball trading cards will be given away on Saturday as well. 
 
Heroes Weekend concludes on Sunday with First Responders Day.  First responders will be honored throughout the game.  There will be a postgame autograph session and as part of Kids Day, all kids 12 and under receive FREE admission and get to run the bases after the game.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series 2-1, with the first three games between the two teams being played earlier this season.
 
-  Kendal Ewell hit .417 in the series earlier this season with two runs, an RBI and three steals.  Will King hit .375 with two home runs, five RBIs and four runs.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 23-13 overall and 9-6 in the ASUN Conference.  The Colonels have won two in a row, including a 3-2 victory in 11 innings against Xavier on Tuesday.

-  The Colonels are first in the ASUN and 10th in NCAA in fielding percentage (.980).  EKU has the fewest errors (25) in the conference.
 
-  In his last four games, King is hitting .375 and slugging .938 with three home runs, seven RBIs and five runs scored.
 
-  The pitching staff is fourth in the ASUN with 342 strikeouts this season and 51st in the nation with 9.83 strikeouts per nine innings.  EKU is third in the conference in fewest home runs allowed (28) and fifth in runs allowed (193).
 
-  Will Brian is first in the ASUN, and tied for first in the NCAA, with 12 saves.
 
-  Michael Schuler, a sophomore right-hander, will start game one on Friday.  He is 4-2 with a 5.08 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 39 innings.  Rian Yates, also a sophomore righty, will get the ball for game two.  He is 0-2 with a 4.67 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 27 innings.  Niko Leontarakis will get the ball for game three.  The senior right-hander is 4-1 with a 6.62 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 34 innings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  North Alabama is 9-25 overall and 2-13 against ASUN teams.  The Lions snapped a six-game losing streak with a 6-4 win at home against Murray State on Tuesday.
 
-  UNA's last ASUN win was over Central Arkansas on April 2.  Will Haberstock held UCA to one run in seven innings and struck out six during the 3-1 win.
 
-  Designated hitter Luke Harper leads the team with a .349 average.  Center fielder Austin Thrasher has scored a team-best 30 runs and is hitting .330.  Third baseman Jonathan Lane leads the team in home runs (4) and RBIs (24), and is hitting .305.
 
-  As a team, North Alabama has hit just 12 home runs all season.  The Lions have 70 stolen bases, which is the most in the ASUN Conference.
 
-  Austin Nichols, a senior right-hander is expected to start the opener on Friday.  He is 1-5 this season with an 8.29 ERA and has 29 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched.  Haberstock, a sophomore righty, will get the ball for game two.  He is 2-5 with a 6.70 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 43 innings.  Jacob James, a sophomore left-hander who is 2-2 with a 4.31 ERA, will start game three of the series.
