NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky will go on the road for the second straight weekend as the Colonels travel to Nashville for a 3-game series at Lipscomb.
Friday's series opener will begin at 7 p.m. Game two is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. The series finale is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Lipscomb leads the all-time series 3-2.
- The teams last met in a 3-game series in Nashville in 2016. The Colonels won the first game 13-7 before the Bisons won the next two 4-2 and 3-2.
THE COLONELS
- EKU is 21-8 overall and 8-1 in the ASUN Conference. The Colonels are riding an eight-game winning streak, including a weekend sweep of Jacksonville State.
- Eastern Kentucky has matched its total number of wins from all of last season. The Colonels have nine road wins so far this season. They had five all of last year.

Kendal Ewell leads the team and is third in the ASUN with a .394 batting average. He is fourth in the conference in hits (43), fourth in on-base percentage (.492), tied for seventh in slugging (.606), tied for eighth in home runs (5), tied for ninth in runs (27) and tied for ninth in RBIs (28).

Will Brian leads the country with 11 saves this season. He is 1-0 with a 1.02 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 17 and two thirds innings.
- EKU leads the ASUN Conference in fielding percentage (.980) and has the 16th-best fielding percentage in Division I baseball.
- In four games last week,
Roderick Criss II batted .545 (6-for-11) with six runs, a triple, a home run and four RBIs.

Michael Schuler will get the ball for game one,
Rese Brown is scheduled to start game two and
Niko Leontarakis will start game three against Lipscomb. Schuler is 4-1 with a 4.36 ERA on the season. The sophomore right-hander held Jacksonville State to three runs and struck out six in seven innings last weekend. He pitched eight and two-thirds, giving up two of his three runs in the ninth. Brown is 4-2 with a 3.53 ERA. He held JSU to one run on five hits and two walks while striking out six in eight innings. Leontarakis is 4-0 with a 3.94 ERA. In his first weekend start of the season, the senior righty allowed four runs and struck out eight in five innings against the Gamecocks.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Lipscomb is 15-14 overall and 4-5 in ASUN games this season. The Bisons swept Bellarmine on the road last weekend, outscoring the Knights 28-9. Lipscomb's only losses in its last six games are at No. 9 Vanderbilt (7-1) and at No. 1 Tennessee (5-1).
- The Bisons were swept at home by Jacksonville State in their first ASUN series and lost two of three at Central Arkansas in their second league set.
- Malik Williams has a team-high .367 average and 32 RBIs. Maddux Houghton is batting .270 with a team-best 28 runs.
- The Bisons are second in the ASUN this season with 30 home runs and have struck out the third fewest times in the league.
- Lipscomb has stolen 51 bases in 61 attempts. Three players have 11 or more steals – Caleb Ketchup (14), John Shields (13) and Houghton (11).
- Michael Dunkelberger, who is 3-1 with a 2.60 ERA, is scheduled to start on Friday night. The sophomore lefty has struck out 22 and allowed only 22 hits in 27 and two-thirds. Saturday's starter has not been determined. Ike Buxton, a redshirt sophomore right-hander, will get the ball for the series finale. He is 3-2 with a 3.75 ERA. In 36 innings on the mound, Buxton has struck out 27 and walked 14.
