RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team embarks on year three of the
Greg Todd era with non-conference play against Hanover College on Monday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. inside Baptist Health Arena.
Single game tickets start at just $5 for general admission seating and can be purchased on the
Colonels' website. Those not able to be in attendance can find the game streamed live on ESPN+ or over the air on 92.5 WEKY with Wes Chandler on the call.
EKU enters the season receiving votes in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll released last Wednesday. EKU is one of four Atlantic Sun Conference teams who were tabbed to the poll, joining No. 2 FGCU, Lipscomb (RV), and Austin Peay (RV). EKU received four more votes than APSU in the poll.
Additionally, EKU was picked to finish third in the ASUN Preseason Coaches' and Media Poll, the team's highest preseason ranking since 2016.
Promotions
Monday's home opener will feature FREE popcorn for EKU students, who also gain free entry to the arena with their student ID. Fans can also grab the team's 2023-24 poster at various stations on the concourse.

- The Colonels look to improve to 3-1 in season openers under Todd.
- EKU is 22-8 (.733) at home in its last two seasons.
- EKU has won 27 straight games against non-DI opponents dating back to 2004. In the last two season, the Colonels have outscored those opponents by 251 points and are averaging 90 points per game.
- The Colonels have scored over 100 points against three of their last four non-DI opponents.
- EKU returns four members off last year's squad in
Antwainette Walker,
Alice Recanati,
Bridgid Fox, and
Brie Crittendon.
- EKU enters the season picked to finish third in the ASUN preseason poll and with the conference preseason player of the year in Walker for the first time in seven seasons.
- Walker, who gained national spotlight last season, enters the year as ESPN's Frontrunner for ASUN Player of the Year and was named to the 2023-24 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watchlist.
- Recanati was also tabbed to the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team for her second straight season.
- The Colonels added nine newcomers to its roster this season, including seven transfers in
Ivy Turner (Northern Kentucky),
Raphaela Toussaint (Rider),
NeKiyah Thompson (Jacksonville State),
Althea Kara Angeles (Old Dominion),
Sierra McCullough (Tennessee State),
Kaitlyn Costner (Ohio State), and
Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor (Illinois State).
- Turner led the Colonels in their preseason ehibition against Transylvania with 17 points and shot 64 percent from the floor with three 3-pointers.
- Todd recruited his first true-freshman class at EKU with the signing of in-state
Saniyah Shelton (Bowling Green High School) and prep standout
Kailani Lindsey (Foster High School) from Florida.
All-Time vs. Hanover College
- Monday's season opener is the first meeting between EKU and Hanover College.
- Todd, having spent eight seasons as a head coach in the HCAC from 2006-14, enters play with a 12-9 record over Hanover College in his career.
Scouting the Panthers
- Hanover is coming off a 17-8 record last season and fell to eventual DIII National Champion Transy in the HCAC Championship to end their season.
- Head Coach John Jones returns for his ninth season at Hanover with an overall record of 117-75 and six consecutive winning seasons.
- The Panthers return leading scorer Grace Bezold, a junior forward from Covington, Kentucky, who averaged 16.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game last season.
- Three of Hanover's 19 student-athletes are from the Commonwealth of Kentucky in Bezold (Covington), Sammy Berman (Independence), and Reese Sexton (Louisville).
