RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU women's tennis team (1-3) prepares for back-to-back road matches, starting off the slate with a trip to Miamisburg, Ohio on Friday, Feb. 3 to take on the Dayton Flyers (1-2) at 12:00 p.m. at the South Regency Tennis Center. The Colonels have a quick turnaround, as they have a rematch against NKU (2-1) in Crestview Hills, Ky. on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 4:00 p.m. at the Five Seasons Sports Club.
"It was a tight match a couple of weeks ago [against NKU], but we've been working hard and looking forward to the match," head coach
Adam Cohen said.
THE COLONELS
- The Colonels enter the match with a 1-3 record as they look to bounce back from their 6-1 loss against Louisville.
- EKU lost in a close match to the Norse by the score of 4-3 on Jan. 19 in Richmond.
- Elena Tairian is leading the Colonels this season in singles, posting a 3-1 record from the No. 1 spot. Tairian won in a three-set thriller to NKU's No. 1 Elizabeth Rozin two weeks ago, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (13-11).
- Sasha Parkhomenko is 2-2 in singles play in 2023, as she earned singles wins against NKU and Campbellsville from the No. 4 position.
SCOUTING DAYTON
- Dayton enters the match with a 1-2 record, most recently beating Milwaukee 5-2.
- Natalie Osiecki leads the Flyers this season in singles, posting a 2-1 record from the No. 1 spot.
SCOUTING NKU
- NKU enters the match with a 2-1 record as they beat Thomas More 7-0 on Jan. 27. The Norse compete against West Virginia on Friday before facing EKU.
- The Norse are led by Ashlee Fisk and Sylvia Gray in singles, as they both own a 2-1 record.
- Mariajose Hernandez, Ananya Kothakota, and Laura Sola Grau are undefeated in doubles play.
