Colonel Baseball Host Morehead State Tuesday, Plays At Dayton Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU and Morehead State will renew their regional rivalry on the baseball field Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond.
 
The game will begin at 6 p.m. and air live on ESPN+.  There will be a FREE concert in the Earle Combs Stadium parking lot by Grayson Jenkins starting at 4 p.m.
 
Tuesday will be $2 Day at the ballpark.  Tickets, beer, soda and hot dogs are all $2 for every midweek home game this season.  There will be FREE food for EKU students at the Maroon Platoon Tailgate before the game.
 
The Colonels will play at Dayton on Wednesday starting at 3 p.m.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (8-15, 1-5 ASUN) suffered a three-game sweep at Kennesaw State over the weekend.
 
-  In his last four games, outfielder DJ Sullivan is batting .313 with a double and three runs scored.
 
-  Chase Alderman pitched three and one-third innings of scoreless relief on Sunday at Kennesaw State.  He allowed just two base runners.  In eight appearances this season, the freshman is 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA over 19 and one-third innings.
 
-  Four different Colonels – Will King, Roderick Criss II, Logan Thomason and Ron Franklin Jr. – lead the team with three home runs this season.
 
-  Rian Yates, a junior right-hander is expected to start on the mound Tuesday.  He is 0-0 this season with an 8.74 ERA over 11 and one-third innings.  Sophomore Isaac Milburn will start at Dayton.  The lefty is 1-3 this season with an 8.38 ERA.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Morehead State is 13-10 this season.  The Eagles have won four in a row – a midweek game at home against Ohio and then a three-game road sweep of Southern Indiana over the weekend.
 
-  Jackson Feltner leads MSU with a .383 batting average and 22 RBIs.  The junior first baseman is second on the team with 24 runs scored and second with seven home runs.  Alex Kafka, a right-handed graduate student, will start on the mound for the Eagles.  He is 1-0 with an 11.32 ERA.
 
-  Dayton is 5-16 overall this season after getting swept at Georgetown over the weekend.  The Flyers will host Akron on Tuesday.

-  Ben Jones, a senior outfielder, leads UD in average (.375), runs (16), home runs (5) and RBIs (17).  He did not play in the Georgetown series.  Dayton's starting pitcher has not been determined.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU leads the all-time series against Morehead State 122-105-1.  The Colonels have won three in a row over the Eagles.
 
-  The Colonels and Eagles last met on April 26, 2022 in Richmond, with EKU winning 6-3.  Max Williams finished that game 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.  Milburn allowed one run on four hits in five innings.  He did not walk a batter and struck out four on his way to earning the win.
 
-  EKU is 14-8-1 all-time against Dayton.
 
-  The most recent meeting between the Flyers and the Colonels was on March 2, 2022 in Richmond, with EKU winning 11-3.  Charlie Ludwick hit a home run and finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored.  King and Franklin also drove in two runs each.
