RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University and Marshall will play a home-and-home baseball series this week starting Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond.
The game, presented by Chick-Fil-A, will begin at 4 p.m. and air live on ESPN+. Tuesday will be $2 Day at the ballpark. Tickets, beer, soda and hot dogs are all $2 for every midweek home game this season.
The Colonels will play at Marshall on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
THE COLONELS
- EKU (15-20, 6-9 ASUN) won two of three at home against No. 15 ranked Florida Gulf Coast over the weekend. The Colonels are now 5-4 in their last nine ASUN games.
- In three games against FGCU,
Logan Thomason hit .500 with a home run in every game, four runs, six RBIs and a 1.214 slugging percentage.
- As a team, the Colonels posted a .350 batting average, hit 10 home runs, averaged 10.7 runs per game, totaled 24 walks, had a .484 on-base percentage and a .760 slugging percentage.

Chase Alderman did not allow a run and struck out seven while pitching the final four innings of the game. He struck out the side in the final inning.

Bryce Travis will make his first start of the season on Tuesday. The junior left-hander is 1-2 with a 4.08 ERA in 17 and two-thirds innings of work this season. He has struck out 22 and walked only nine.
Rian Yates, a junior right-hander is expected to start on the mound Wednesday. He is 0-1 this season with an 8.27 ERA over 20 and two-thirds innings.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Marshall is 14-19 this season and 4-11 in the Sun Belt Conference. The Thundering Herd have lost seven of their last eight, with the only win coming last Tuesday at Ohio, 8-6.
- Senior first baseman Daniel Carinci has a team-high .308 batting average. Senior outfielder Kyle Schaefer leads Marshall with five home runs and 26 RBIs, while hitting .302.
- Ryan Capuano is the top arm out of the bullpen. The senior right-hander is 1-2 with a 2.36 ERA and five saves in 14 appearances. He has struck out 28 and walked only nine in 26 and two-thirds innings of work.
- Chad Heiner will start for the Thundering Herd on Tuesday. The senior right-hander is 1-1 with a 8.37 ERA in 12 appearances, including four starts. Ray Pacella, who has started nine times and made 11 appearances, will take the mound on Wednesday. The redshirt senior lefty is 0-4 with a 6.20 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 45 innings.
