RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU track and field teams will host the
Rick Erdmann Twilight on Friday and Saturday (April 21-22) on the Tom Samuels Track. The meet will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The
Rick Erdmann Twilight will air live on ESPN+, with the broadcast running from 6:30-10:30 p.m. on Friday and from 8:15-9:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The men's 3,000-meter steeplechase will highlight the first day of the
Rick Erdmann Twilight with a loaded field. Pedro Garcia-Palencia ran a personal-best 3,000-meter steeplechase time of 8:42.57 at the Mt. Sac Relays last week, winning ASUN Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for his performance. His time ranks No. 1 in the ASUN, No. 6 in the region and No. 15 in the country.
The men's steeplechase field will also feature 2022 NCAA Steeple Champion and EKU alum
Ahmed Jaziri, 2022 NCAA Steeple Runner-Up Duncan Hamilton (Montana State), 2022 NCAA Steeple Bronze Medalist Parker Stokes (Georgetown), 2022 British Steeple Champion and EKU alum Jamaine Coleman, and several other runners that qualified for nationals.
John Ukomadu won the men's high jump at the Tennessee Invite with 2.00m, which ranks No. 4 in the ASUN.
Quantasia Perry ranks No. 4 in the ASUN in the women's 100-meters (11.77).
Ahmed Kadri (3:42.65 / No. 3 in the ASUN) and Jan Badia (3:43.09 / No. 4 in the ASUN) clocked personal-best times in the 1,500-meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational last week. These times were the fastest at EKU in the past 30 years, as Kadri's time ranks second-best in school history and Badia's time is the third-best in program history.
Hakim Abouzouhir posted a personal-best 5,000-meter time of 13:47.71 finishing in second place at the Mt. Sac Relays last week. His time ranks as the fifth-best in school history, No. 1 in the ASUN, and No. 22 in the region.
Joan Tapias ranks No. 4 in the ASUN in the 5,000-meters (14:12.14) while
Enock Kipchumba ranks No. 5 in the conference (14:12.63).
There will be free sunglasses available for all fans along with food trucks at the home meet. For students, there will be double app points on the EKU Sports Mobile App. This will be one of the final home events where students can get points. Students, faculty, and staff can go to the meet for free while tickets will cost $5 each day for all other fans.
