Colonel Baseball Set For Road Trip To Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After winning an ASUN Conference series at home this past weekend, Eastern Kentucky University will take to the road to face Jacksonville University for three starting on Thursday.
 
The series opener is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.  Game two of the series has been changed to Friday at 2 p.m.  The series finale was changed to Saturday at 11 a.m.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 12-16 and 3-6 in the ASUN after winning two of three against North Florida this past weekend.  The two teams combined for 58 runs in the first two games of the series.
 
-  The Colonels hit 10 home runs in the three game series against North Florida.  Will King, Roderick Criss II and Jalen Jones hit two each.
 
-  Logan Thomason batted in the lead-off position in all three games against UNF and hit .455 with five runs scored.  He drew five walks and had a .625 on-base percentage in the series.
 
-  The Colonels are fifth in the nation in double plays turned with 29.
 
-  Sophomore Isaac Milburn will get the start on Thursday.  The sophomore lefty is 2-3 with a 7.33 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 27 innings.  He has appeared in 11 games and made three starts.  Friday's starter has not been determined.  Junior newcomer Luke Reed is scheduled to start the finale on Saturday.  The right-hander is 1-1 with a 2.66 ERA.  He's made nine appearances and started twice.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Jacksonville is 20-10 overall this season and 5-4 in the ASUN Conference.  The Dolphins lost two of three at No. 16 Florida Gulf Coast over the weekend, but beat Florida State 5-4 on Tuesday.
 
-  Kris Armstrong leads the team in hitting (.361), home runs (17), RBIs (50) and is second in runs scored (31).  The third baseman is first in the nation in RBIs and second in home runs.  He went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs, a home run and one RBI in the win over FSU.
 
-  Chris Lotito leads the ASUN with eight saves.  The redshirt sophomore right-hander has pitched 13 innings across 13 appearances and has struck out 19 hitters.  He is 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA.

-  Freshman right-hander Evan Chrest is expected to start for the Dolphins on Thursday.  He is 4-0 with a 1.91 ERA.  In 42 and one-third innings, he has struck out 51 and allowed just nine earned runs.  Richard Long, a sophomore righty who is 1-2 with a 5.72 ERA, will start game two of the series.  The starter for game three will be Christian Graham, a redshirt-senior right-hander who is 2-2 with a 6.08 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 37 innings of work.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Jacksonville leads the all-time series between the two teams 5-1.  The Colonels won the most recent meeting, 5-2, on May 26, 2022 at the ASUN Conference Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida.
 
-  In that ASUN Tournament game, all seven runs were scored in the fifth inning.  Conner Davis finished 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs.  Michael Goehrig also had two RBIs, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate.  Cameron Kalandros allowed three hits and two runs over five innings pitched.
