RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team announced the addition of Kaitlyn Costner, a transfer guard from Ohio State to its 2023-24 roster on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Costner, a Hoosier State native, joins EKU as a junior after spending the past two seasons at Ohio State where she appeared in 26 games and two NCAA Tournaments. She will wear No. 20 in the maroon and white.
 
"We're extremely excited to add Kaitlyn to our roster," said EKU head coach Greg Todd. "She's a very talented guard who had two years of experience with such a good program in Ohio State. I believe Kaitlyn is up for the challenge as we continue our pursuit towards championships in March."
 
Last season with the Buckeyes, Costner tallied two points playing behind some of the best guards in the country. She recorded a career-high 22 minutes in a home win against Minnesota and played in eight additional Big 10 contests.
 
During her freshman season in 2021-22, Costner recorded six points with key minutes against Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Penn State.
 
In her prep career, Kaitlyn helped Elkhard Central to its first sectional championship in over 27 years as a freshman. She then transferred to Penn Harris Madison and helped to the team to an un-blemished 22-0 record, Class 4A sectional and regional titles, while averaging over 16 points per game.
 
The EKU women's basketball roster stands at 13 members as the team continues offseason workouts leading to the regular season. The Colonels are coming off a season with an 18-14 overall record and their second consecutive trip to the ASUN Conference quarterfinals.
