EKU Women’s Tennis Plays At Home Against Jacksonville State And On The Road At Louisville

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (1-0, 0-0 ASUN) plays against former OVC and ASUN foe Jacksonville State (0-2, 0-0 C-USA) on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Greg Adams Tennis Center. Then, the Colonels hit the road to face off against Louisville (0-0, 0-0 ACC) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
 
There will be a poster giveaway for fans attending the match against Jacksonville State on Friday.
 
THE COLONELS
EKU opened its 2024 with a 4-3 win against Western Kentucky on Jan. 14. Madison Hill and Mariia Triska won their doubles match from the No. 3 court against WKU, 6-2, but the Lady Topper earned the doubles point. The Colonels won their singles matches from the top four courts.
 
Masha Fedenko dominated in her singles match against WKU to win in straight sets from the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 6-2. She earned ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors for her performance.
 
Emmeline Polevoi won her singles match in straight sets from the No. 4 court, 6-2, 6-4. Marilou Cote earned her first career Division I singles win against WKU from the No. 3 position, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4.
 
Sasha Parkhomenko clinched the match for the Maroon and White from the No. 2 spot in a three-set thriller, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).
 
EKU lost to the Gamecocks by a score of 7-0 in 2023. Friday's matchup is the 22nd meeting between JSU and EKU, as the Colonels lead the all-time series 17-4.
 
The Colonels lost to Louisville by a score of 6-1 in 2023. The Cardinals own a 20-12 all-time record against EKU.
 
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE STATE
Jacksonville State enters the match with an 0-2 mark, losing to Middle Tennessee by a score of 4-3 on Jan. 12 and Mississippi State by a score of 4-1 on Jan. 13.
 
Irene Artigas and Dariana Prato are the leading pair in doubles for the Gamecocks, posting a 2-0 record from the No. 3 court.
 
Serafima Shastova earned ASUN First Team All-Conference and ASUN All-Freshman Team honors in 2023.

SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
Louisville plays EKU on the back end of a doubleheader on Saturday, as they will face ASUN foe Lipscomb at 11:00 a.m.
 
The Cardinals posted a 10-15 record in 2023, ending their season in the ACC Tournament against Florida State. Jamilah Snells led Louisville in doubles play last season, posting a 12-10 mark.
