EKU Women’s Tennis Looks To Bounce Back Against Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (6-8, 0-0 ASUN) looks to bounce back against Middle Tennessee (5-6, 0-0 C-USA) on Friday at 6:00 p.m. ET at the Adams Tennis Complex.
 
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 6-8 record, falling to Kentucky by a score of 7-0 on Feb. 18.
 
The Maroon and White are led by Emmeline Polevoi in singles play, who has a team-high eight wins from several spots in the lineup. Masha Fedenko has seven wins in singles from the No. 1 court and she earned the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 17. Marilou Cote and Izem Elif Olcer have six wins each in singles play.
 
Cote and Olcer are the leading pair in doubles for the Colonels, posting a 5-1 mark from the bottom two spots in the lineup.
 
The Colonels played at the Middle Tennessee Invite in the fall, posting a 2-0 record against the Blue Raiders in doubles.
 
SCOUTING MIDDLE TENNESSEE
Middle Tennessee enters the contest with a 5-6 mark, losing to Murray State by a score of 5-2 on Feb. 18. The Blue Raiders will play Tennessee State in the first match of a doubleheader before facing EKU. MTSU is led by Sana Garakani in singles, posting a 6-4 record from the top court.
 
The Blue Raiders own a 15-9 all-time record against the Colonels. This will be the first match between the two teams since 1999, where Middle Tennessee won by a score of 5-2.
