RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (7-10, 0-0 ASUN) starts Atlantic Sun Conference play against Austin Peay (4-5, 0-0 ASUN) on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
Fans can get a free tennis koozie for attending the match.
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 7-10 record, falling to Southern Indiana in a heartbreaker by a score of 4-3 on March 8.
The Maroon and White are led by
Masha Fedenko in singles play, who has a team-high nine wins from the No. 1 position, and she earned the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 17.
Emmeline Polevoi is tied with Fedenko with nine singles wins from several spots in the lineup.
Marilou Cote has eight wins in singles from the No. 2 and 3 courts.
Mariia Triska dominated in her singles match against Southern Indiana from the No. 6 court, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Cote and Polevoi won their last two doubles matches from the top court against Ball State and Southern Indiana. Cote leads the team with nine wins in doubles play.
SCOUTING AUSTIN PEAY
Austin Peay enters the contest with a 4-5 mark, beating UAB by a score of 4-3 on Feb. 29. The Governors are led by Jana Leder in singles, who was ranked as high as No. 84 in the ITA Singles rankings. Pauline Bruns boasts a 7-0 record from the No. 6 spot in singles. Luca Bohlen leads Austin Peay in doubles, posting a 5-2 record from the bottom two courts.
The Governors swept EKU by a score of 7-0 in 2023, but the Colonels lead the all-time series 34-12.
