EKU Hosts North Alabama For 3-Game Conference Series

SCHEDULE UPDATE:  FRIDAY'S GAME MOVED TO 5 P.M. START TIME

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University will host North Alabama for a 3-game Atlantic Sun Conference baseball series this weekend at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
The series opener on Friday is set to begin at 5 p.m.  Game two of the series on Saturday is also a 6 p.m. start.  The finale on Sunday will get underway at 1 p.m.
 
Friday is 2000s Night at the ballpark.  There will be music and trivia from the 2000s throughout the game.  Baseball Bingo also returns on Friday, with the first three winners taking home EKU baseball mini bats. 
 
Saturday is Superhero Night.  Fans will receive a FREE special edition EKU baseball poster and enjoy in-game superhero content.  There will also be a face painter at the game. 
 
Sunday will be Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day presented by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Kids Day.  EKU faculty and staff can receive complementary tickets to the game by clicking here, and a special $5 Faculty & Staff concessions combo of popcorn and a drink.  All kids 12 and under receive FREE admission and get to run the bases after the game.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (4-18, 2-1 ASUN) dropped a pair of midweek games to Morehead State and Dayton, after winning a conference road series at Central Arkansas last weekend.
 
-  Conner Davis is seventh in the ASUN with a .378 batting average.  Max Williams is tied for sixth in the conference with seven doubles.  Tait Nunnally is tied for ninth in the league with five home runs.


-  Senior lefty Bryce Travis hasn't allowed an earned run over his last six innings of work, spanning three appearances.  He leads the team with 12 appearances this season.  Travis is 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA.
 
-  Miguel Larreal is hitting .372 (16-for-43) with two home runs and 10 RBIs in his last 13 games.
 
-  Sophomore Nathan Lawson will start on Friday.  He is 1-1 with a 7.15 ERA.  Ryker Walton, a junior right-hander, will get the ball for game two of the series.  He is 2-1 with a 5.04 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 25 innings.  Sunday's starter has not been determined.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  North Alabama is 8-12 overall and 1-2 in conference games.  The Lions have won two straight, a 4-2 victory over Kennesaw State in the series finale on Sunday and an 8-4 win at Tennessee Tech on Tuesday.
 
-  Dominick McIntyre leads the team with a .286 batting average.  Kyle Machado is hitting .284 with a team-best 13 RBIs.
 
-  Brycen Parris is tied for the team lead with seven appearances out of the bullpen.  He is 0-2 with a 3.63 ERA and one save.  He has struck out 26 in 17 1/3 innings.
 
-  North Alabama is hitting .241 as a team and is averaging 5.2 runs per game.

-  UNA's weekend rotation has not been announced.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU is 8-1 against North Alabama, with all nine games being played since the Colonels joined the ASUN Conference before the 2022 season.  EKU has won six straight, sweeping the last two series.
 
-  In the most recent meeting, the Colonels completed a 3-game sweep in Florence with a 9-3 victory on April 23, 2023.  EKU scored the first seven runs of the game, including a 3-run home run in the first inning by Charlie Ludwick.  Gehrig Frei hit a 2-run home run for the Lions.
