EKU Women’s Tennis Hits The Road For First ASUN Conference Away Match Against Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (9-11, 2-1 ASUN) hits the road for its first Atlantic Sun Conference away match against Central Arkansas (8-8, 0-2 ASUN) on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the UCA Tennis Courts.
 
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 9-11 record, beating Queens by a score of 6-1 on March 20.
 
The Maroon and White are led by Emmeline Polevoi in singles play, who has a team-high 11 wins from several spots in the lineup. Masha Fedenko has 10 singles wins from the No. 1 position, and she earned the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 17. Marilou Cote is tied with Fedenko with 10 wins in singles play. Sasha Parkhomenko and Zhansaya Bakytzhan have won two straight singles matches.
 
Marilou Cote leads EKU in doubles, posting a team-high 10 wins from all three spots in the lineup. The Colonels earned the doubles point in their last two matches against Bellarmine and Queens. Madison Hill and Parkhomenko own a 2-0 doubles record in ASUN Conference play this season.
 
SCOUTING CENTRAL ARKANSAS
Central Arkansas enters the contest with an 8-8 mark, beating Harding by a score of 5-2 on March 20. The Sugar Bears are led by Vichitraporn Vimuktananda in singles play, boasting a 10-3 record from the top court. Sumomo Hamanaga leads UCA in doubles play with a team-high nine wins. Central Arkansas beat EKU in the only matchup in the all-time series, 6-1 in 2023.
