After Weekend Sweep, EKU Baseball Hosts Northern Kentucky Tuesday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Coming off a 3-game conference sweep and having won five of its last seven, Eastern Kentucky University will host a Northern Kentucky squad riding an 11-game winning streak on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium.
 
The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. and air live on ESPN+.
 
Tuesday will be $2 Day at the ballpark.  Tickets, beer, soda and hot dogs are just $2 each.  Following the game, fans are invited to stay and watch Barbie on the big screen.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (7-18, 5-1 ASUN) swept North Alabama over the weekend and is now tied for first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
 
-  In his last seven games, Max Williams is batting .400 with two home runs, seven RBIs and six runs scored.  In the 3-game sweep of UNA, Williams hit .556 with a home run, a double, five RBIs and four runs scored.


-  In the 3-game series against North Alabama, EKU's pitching staff compiled a 2.16 ERA and limited the Lions to a .186 batting average.  The Colonels walked six batters and struck out 20.
 
-  Freshman Tait Nunnally drove in four of EKU's five runs in a 5-1 win over North Alabama on Sunday.  He hit a 3-run home run in the fourth and had an RBI double in the sixth.
 
-  Freshman Bradley Stewart will make his third career start.  The left-hander is 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA, having allowed only one hit through 6 1/3 innings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Northern Kentucky is 15-8 overall and 6-0 in the Horizon League.  The Norse have won 11 straight games, including 3-game sweeps of Western Illinois and Oakland.
 
-  Jake Paulick leads the team with a .423 batting average.  Liam McFadden-Ackman is hitting .371 while leading the team in runs (32), doubles (9), home runs (10), steals (11) and RBIs (37).  He is third in the nation with 1.80 RBIs per game.
 
-  The Norse are hitting .329 as a team with a .439 on-base percentage.  NKU is averaging 9.8 runs per game.
 
-  Nick McClanahan leads the team with 13 appearances and two saves.  He is 1-1 with a 5.32 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 22 innings.

-  NKU's starting pitcher has not been announced.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU holds a 29-18-1 advantage in the all-time series.  The Colonels are 15-9 in games played in Richmond.  The first meeting between the two programs came in 1972.  EKU has won six of the last eight against the Norse.
 
-  In the most recent meeting, Ron Franklin Jr. hit a 3-run home run in the eighth inning to break a 6-6 tie as the Colonels beat NKU 10-7 on May 2, 2023.  Franklin finished 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs.  DJ Sullivan went 2-for-4 with a walk, a run and two driven in.  Manny Vorhees had a 2-for-4 day with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Norse.
