RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (7-9, 0-0 ASUN) plays in its final non-conference match against Southern Indiana (2-6, 0-0 OVC) on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 7-9 record, overcoming a 3-0 deficit to beat Ball State by a score of 4-3 on Feb. 25.
The Maroon and White led by
Emmeline Polevoi in singles play, who has a team-high nine wins from several spots in the lineup.
Masha Fedenko has eight wins in singles from the No. 1 court and she earned the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 17.
Marilou Cote and
Izem Elif Olcer have seven wins each in singles play. Cote clinched the match for the Colonels against Ball State from the No. 3 court in singles.
Cote and Olcer are the leading pair in doubles for the Colonels, posting a 5-1 mark from the bottom two spots in the lineup. Cote also leads the team with eight doubles wins.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN INDIANA
Southern Indiana enters the contest with a 2-6 mark, losing to Northern Kentucky by a score of 5-2 on March 3. The Screaming Eagles are led by Antonia Ferrarini in singles, posting a 4-4 record on the season. EKU and Southern Indiana will compete in the second matchup of the all-time series, as the Colonels won 5-2 in 2023.
