EKU Women’s Tennis Ends Season Against Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (9-17, 2-7 ASUN) ends its season against Kennesaw State (10-7, 6-3 ASUN) on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Betty Siegel Tennis Courts.
 
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 9-17 record, falling to North Florida by a score of 5-2 on April 12. The Colonels secured victories against Bellarmine and Queens in Atlantic Sun Conference play so far this season.
 
The Maroon and White are led by Emmeline Polevoi in singles play, who has a team-high 12 wins from various spots in the lineup. Marilou Cote is tied with Polevoi with 12 wins in singles play from the No. 2 and 3 courts. Masha Fedenko has 10 singles wins from the No. 1 position, and she earned the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 17. Cote and Izem Elif Olcer won their singles matches against North Florida.
 
Cote leads EKU in doubles, accumulating a team-high 10 wins from all three spots in the lineup. The Colonels secured the doubles point in their two ASUN wins against Bellarmine and Queens.
 
SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
Kennesaw State enters the contest with a 10-7 mark, defeating Queens by a score of 6-1 on April 12. The Owls clinched a spot in the ASUN Conference Championship with six wins in conference play. Sophia Unger leads KSU in singles play with a team-high 11 wins. Taylor Dean and Ema Baraniakova lead Kennesaw State in doubles, boasting a 12-3 record from the top court. The Owls beat the Colonels twice in 2023, including a 4-0 victory in the First Round of ASUN Conference Championship in Fort Myers. KSU leads the all-time series 2-1.
