RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (9-14, 2-4 ASUN) begins its final home stand against first-place Stetson (9-6, 6-0 ASUN) on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 9-14 record, falling to Lipscomb by a score of 6-1 on March 30. The Colonels secured victories against Bellarmine and Queens in Atlantic Sun Conference play so far this season.
The Maroon and White are led by
Emmeline Polevoi in singles play, who has a team-high 12 wins from various spots in the lineup.
Marilou Cote has 11 wins in singles play from the No. 2 and 3 courts.
Masha Fedenko has 10 singles wins from the No. 1 position, and she earned the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 17.
Izem Elif Olcer won her singles match from the No. 5 position against Lipscomb.
Cote leads EKU in doubles, accumulating a team-high 10 wins from all three spots in the lineup. The Colonels secured the doubles point in their two ASUN wins against Bellarmine and Queens.
SCOUTING STETSON
Stetson enters the contest with a 9-6 mark, beating North Florida by a score of 5-2 on March 30 to extend their winning streak to seven matches. The Hatters boast a 6-0 record in ASUN Conference play so far this season. Stetson is led by Noa Cohen in singles play, posting a 12-1 mark from the bottom three spots in the lineup. Magdalena Hedrzak leads the Hatters in doubles play with a team-high eight wins. EKU beat Stetson by a score of 4-3 in their last matchup in 2018, but the Hatters lead the all-time series 4-1.
