EKU Women’s Tennis Hosts Senior Day Match Against FGCU

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (9-15, 2-5 ASUN) hosts its Senior Day match against FGCU (10-8, 5-2 ASUN) at 11:00 a.m. at the Tom Higgins Outdoor Courts.
 
EKU will honor student manager Elena Tairian, Daniela Hernandez, Emmeline Polevoi, and captain Madison Hill. The Senior Day ceremony will take place after both the women's and men's match at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 9-15 record, falling to first-place Stetson by a score of 6-1 on April 5. The Colonels secured victories against Bellarmine and Queens in Atlantic Sun Conference play so far this season.
 
The Maroon and White are led by Emmeline Polevoi in singles play, who has a team-high 12 wins from various spots in the lineup. Marilou Cote has 11 wins in singles play from the No. 2 and 3 courts. Masha Fedenko has 10 singles wins from the No. 1 position, and she earned the ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Jan. 17. Sasha Parkhomenko won her singles match from the No. 2 position against Stetson.
 
Cote leads EKU in doubles, accumulating a team-high 10 wins from all three spots in the lineup. The Colonels secured the doubles point in their two ASUN wins against Bellarmine and Queens.
 
SCOUTING FGCU
FGCU enters the contest with a 10-8 mark, defeating Kennesaw State by a score of 5-2 on March 30. The Eagles secured victories against Bellarmine, Queens, North Alabama, North Florida, and Kennesaw State in ASUN Conference play so far this season. Isabella Colmenares leads Florida Gulf Coast in singles, boasting a 13-5 record, primarily from the No. 2 court. Sunday's matchup marks the first meeting in the all-time series between EKU and FGCU.
