Seven Colonels Selected To The Academic All-ASUN Team

ATLANTA – Seven Colonels were selected to the Academic All-ASUN Team, including Jan Badia, Maria Cano, Samuel Carter, Kristian Imroth, Saskia Pingpank, Jackson Siddall, and Lucy Thornton, the conference announced on Friday.
 
Badia excels in the classroom, boasting a 4.0 GPA while pursuing his master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science.
 
The junior qualified for the NCAA East First Rounds for the 1,500 meters, posting a personal-best time of 3:41.89 at the Wake Forest Invitational, which is the second-best in school history. His time ranks No. 2 in the ASUN and No. 60 in the East Region. Badia won a silver medal for the 1,500 meters at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
 
Cano shines in the classroom with a 3.85 GPA while pursuing her master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science.
 
The Priego de Cordoba, Spain native earned a silver medal for the 5,000 meters at the ASUN Outdoor Championships, recording a personal-best time of 16:51.79, ranking No. 7 in the ASUN. She clocked a college-best 1,500-meter time of 4:25.01 to finish fourth at ASUN outdoors, which ranks No. 6 in the ASUN.
 
Carter boasts a 3.87 GPA while pursuing his master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science.
 
The Savannah, Ga. product won a gold medal in the triple jump for the third time in his EKU career at the ASUN Outdoor Championships, leaping a personal-best 15.42m, which ranks No. 1 in the ASUN, No. 36 in the East Region, and is the fifth-best in program history. He won the long jump at the Rick Erdmann Twilight, jumping a personal-best 7.41m, ranking No. 2 in the ASUN.
 
Imroth has a 4.0 GPA while pursuing his master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science.
 
The Birmingham, England native won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Penn Relays with a personal-best time of 8:35.32. His time ranks No. 2 in the ASUN, No. 7 in the East Region, and No. 13 in the nation. He won a gold medal in the steeplechase at the ASUN Outdoor Championships. He posted a personal-best 1,500-meter time of 3:45.89 at the EKU Spring Meet, ranking No. 8 in the ASUN.
 
Pingpank boasts a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science.
 
The Barsinghausen, Germany product achieved a personal-best 5,000-meter time of 16:58.77 to finish sixth at the Wake Forest Invitational, which ranks No. 9 in the ASUN. She ran a personal-best 10,000-meter time of 37:01.52 to finish seventh at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
 
Siddall shines in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA while pursuing his master's degree in Literacy P-12.
 
The Lebanon, Ohio native earned a bronze medal in the 5,000 meters at the ASUN Outdoor Championships, posting a time of 14:23.18. He recorded a personal-best 10,000-meter time of 29:03.54 at the Penn Relays, ranking No. 3 in the ASUN.
 
Thornton has a 4.0 GPA while pursuing her master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science.
 
The Lincoln, England product ran a personal-best 5,000-meter time of 16:58.04 to finish fifth at the Wake Forest Invitational, which ranks No. 8 in the ASUN. She achieved a personal-best 1,500-meter time of 4:37.01 at the Rick Erdmann Twilight. Thornton clocked a personal-best 10,000-meter time of 38:03.40 at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.

Eleven Colonels will compete at the NCAA East First Rounds on May 22-25 at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex in Lexington.
