RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team will open the 2025-26 season on Monday when the Colonels host Transylvania University at the Seabury Center on the campus of Berea College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

The game will stream live on ESPN+ with Wes Chandler (PxP) and Kent Miller (Color) on the call. Fans can also listen on the Colonel All-Access page, featuring the Voice of the Colonels, Greg Stotelmyer with the KY811 pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Monday marks the program's 55th season of varsity basketball. EKU enters the year under fifth-year head coach
Greg Todd. Todd has recorded more than 730 career wins, including over 330 at the NCAA level, and has guided the Colonels to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since 2000-02.
EKU returns five players from last year's squad, which finished 21-11 and reached the Atlantic Sun Conference semifinals.
Sophomore guard
Liz Freihofer was named Preseason All-ASUN after averaging 11.5 points per game with 70 made three-pointers last season. She finished as the runner-up for ASUN Freshman of the Year, Freshman All-ASUN, and collected 10 weekly conference honors.

EKU added seven newcomers during the offseason, including six transfers:

Zyniah Thomas, senior guard (Arkansas–Fort Smith) — averaged 9.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

Joseana Vaz, senior forward (Colorado State) — appeared in 25 games last season.

Ndidiamaka Ndukwe, senior guard (Georgia Southwestern) — Michigan native averaged 19.3 points per game.

Madison Lewis, junior guard (Wabash Valley College) — NJCAA first-team All-American, averaged 16.3 points.
•
Jasmine Jordan, sophomore forward (Rio Grande) — Ashland, Kentucky native averaged 18.2 points and 14.0 rebounds; River States Conference Freshman of the Year.

Ella Bradley, senior guard (Texas–Tyler) — averaged 10.7 points and 3.6 rebounds.
The Colonels' lone true freshman is Kentucky native
Kenleigh Woods of Ashland Blazer High School, a three-time KHSAA All-State selection and 2025 Kentucky Miss Basketball candidate who totaled 1,839 career points.
EKU and Transylvania last met in an exhibition ahead of the 2023-24 season, with the Colonels earning a 65-42 win over the defending NCAA Division III national champions.
The Pioneers went 22-6 last season and reached the NCAA Tournament under then-first-year head coach Hannah Kline, who is now entering her second season. Thirteen of the 17 players on Transylvania's 2025-26 roster are Kentuckians.
