Women’s Basketball Inks Two in Fall Signing Class

Healy and Ueda Set to Join EKU in 2026-27 Season

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball head coach Greg Todd announced the additions of Kiera Healy and Luna Ueda to the program's 2026 signing class. Both are set to join the Colonels ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Healy, a 5-foot-11 wing from New Carlisle, Ohio, is the lone prep signee in the class. The Archbishop Carroll High School standout is a three-time First Team All-GCL, District 15 First Team, and All-Ohio selection.

"Kiera is exactly the type of student-athlete we want at EKU," said Todd. "She's hardworking, coachable and comes from a great high school program in Ohio. Her character and competitiveness will elevate our team on and off the court, and we're excited to get her on campus."

During the 2024-25 season, Healy averaged 15.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game while leading Carroll to Greater Catholic League and district championships. She earned second-team All-Ohio honors, First Team All-GCL, First-Team District 15 recognition, and joined the school's 1,000-point club.

As an underclassman, Healy averaged 13.7 points and 8.2 rebounds as a sophomore and 14.4 points and 9.4 rebounds as a freshman. She collected First-Team all-conference, District 15, Southwest Ohio, and All-Ohio accolades during that span.

Healy, a highly touted prospect, chose EKU over Akron, Robert Morris, Purdue Fort Wayne, Tennessee-Martin, and Canisius this fall.

Ueda, a 5-foot-5 guard from Tokyo, Japan, has competed at Casper College in Wyoming since arriving to the United States in 2024. She has started more than 44 games while averaging 12.0 points and 3.0 assists per game in her career.

"We are thrilled to officially welcome Luna to the EKU family," said Todd. "She is a highly skilled, disciplined, and mature player who fits perfectly into the want we want to play. Her versatility allows her to impact the game on both ends of the floor, and her experience will immediately translate to Division I basketball. Out staff is extremely excited about the energy and competitiveness she brings, and we can't wait to get her on campus."

Internationally, Ueda represented Japan on the U18 Women's National Team and appeared in six games at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup.

She scored four points against India on June 25, recorded three assists against China on June 26, and added two points against South Korea in the third-place game on June 30.

This season, Ueda has started nine games and is averaging career highs across points, rebounds, assists and shooting percentages. She has posted two 20-point performances, including 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals against Western Nebraska CC on Nov. 18, and 20 points, five steals and four rebounds against McCook CC on Nov. 29.

In 2024-25, Ueda started all 35 games for Casper and averaged 11.7 points and 2.9 assists per contest. She earned recognition on the All-Region 9 and Region 9 All-Tournament teams.
