Colonel Baseball Plays 3-Game Series At Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. – Week two of the 2025 season will send Eastern Kentucky University to Mississippi for a 3-game series against Ole Miss.
 
Friday's series opener has been moved up to 3 p.m. ET.  Saturday's contest will start at 2:30 p.m. ET.  The finale is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.  All three games will air live on the SEC Network+.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is off to an 0-4 start to the season, including a 1-run setback to South Alabama on Monday.
 
-  The four starting pitchers in the first four games of the season combined for a 4.41 ERA with just 13 hits allowed in 16 1/3 innings.  The group struck out 17 and walked eight.
 
-  Offensively, newcomer Diego Alana leads the team with a .417 batting average, going 5-for-12 with four walks in the first four games.  He has a home run, three RBIs and a .563 on-base percentage while starting four times at third base.

-  Wyatt Foley made his Division I debut on Monday against South Alabama.  The junior college transfer pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out two.
 
-  Ryker Walton, a senior right-hander, will start game one on the mound.  He is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA.  Newcomer Bradley Gagen, a redshirt sophomore lefty, is scheduled to get the ball for game two of the series.  He is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA, allowing two unearned runs in four innings last weekend.  Sophomore Elijah Underhill will toe the rubber for game three of the series.  The righty is 0-1 with an 8.31 ERA and five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  The Rebels are 3-1 this season with two wins over top-25 ranked teams – No. 21 Arizona (2-1) and No. 15 Clemson (15-5).  Their only loss was to No. 19 Texas (10-0).  Ole Miss picked up a walk-off win in 10 innings over Arkansas State on Tuesday.
 
-  Luke Hill leads the team with a .429 batting average, two home runs and six RBIs.  The junior infielder is slugging 1.000.  Judd Utermark also has two home runs, including the walk-off 2-run shot against Arkansas State.  A junior infielder, Utermark is batting .286 with three runs and four RBIs.
 
-  Connor Spencer has made two appearances out of the bullpen and has one save.  The 6-foot-2 senior right-hander has not allowed an earned run in 2 1/3 innings.
 
-  Junior lefty Hunter Elliott is scheduled to start on Friday.  He is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, having allowed two hits in five innings.  Riley Maddox, a senior right-hander, will get the ball on Saturday.  He is 0-1 with a 16.20 ERA.  Mason Nichols will take the mound for the finale.  The senior right-hander is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Ole Miss leads the all-time series 7-1, but the Colonels won the most recent meeting.  The two teams played eight times in Oxford across the 1995, 1996 and 1997 seasons.
 
-  The Colonels earned a 4-2 win on Feb. 16, 1997.
