CONWAY, Ark. – After opening the Atlantic Sun Conference schedule with two straight series at home, the baseball team will play its first road league series this weekend at Central Arkansas.
Friday's series opener will start at 5 p.m. ET. The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 4 p.m. ET.
THE COLONELS
- EKU (4-21, 3-3 ASUN) suffered a 10-0 loss at No. 12 Vanderbilt on Tuesday.

Elijah Underhill allowed just one hit in two innings and struck out three of the seven batters he faced in his start against the Commodores.

Nathan Lawson will make his first weekend start of the season on Friday. The righty is 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA in nine appearances. He has only walked four in 25 2/3 innings. Sophomore
Bradley Gagen will get the ball on Saturday. The left-hander has a 4.56 ERA in six starts. Underhill will start the finale. The sophomore right-hander has struck out 16 in 15 1/3 innings and has only allowed one run over his last six innings of work.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Central Arkansas is 6-17 overall and 1-5 in ASUN games. The Bears lost two of three at North Alabama and were swept by Austin Peay at home in their first two conference series. UCA has lost seven straight after a pair of midweek setbacks against Louisiana-Monroe and Arkansas State this week.
- Bryce Cermenelli leads the team with a .402 batting average and 17 RBIs. Zeb Allen has a team-high 24 runs scored and a team-best nine stolen bases to go along with a .310 batting average, three home runs and 14 RBIs.
- Central Arkansas is 10th in the ASUN with an 8.14 team ERA, but ranks fourth in the league with a team batting average of .275.
- Charlie Christensen is expected to start the series opener for the Bears. The junior right-hander is 1-2 with a 9.10 ERA. He has struck out 30 in 28 2/3 innings. Jacob Pannell will get the ball for game two. The junior righty is 2-0 with a 4.01 ERA and 17 Ks in 24 2/3 innings. Sunday's starter has not been determined.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- The all-time series between the two teams is tied 6-6. The Colonels are 5-4 in games played in Conway. EKU has won two straight in the series, with both victories coming last season at the Bears' home stadium.
- In a 3-game series last season, Central Arkansas won the opener 8-7 before the Colonels took the final two 10-3 and 5-3.
