Women’s Tennis Ends Road Swing at Austin Peay, Bellarmine

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team will end a five-match road swing this weekend facing Austin Peay on Friday and Bellarmine on Sunday.
 
Both matches this weekend are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET, when live stats become available, fans can find those links online here.
 
EKU (8-15, 1-3 ASUN) is off to a 1-3 start to Atlantic Sun Conference play, recently falling to Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast, but picking up a 6-1 victory over Queens last Saturday.  The Colonels have lost five of their last six contests.
 
On the year, junior Marilou Cote leads EKU with a 10-10 overall record in singles play and is 5-5 in her last 10 matches.  In conference play, Cote has two wins from court No. 3 against North Florida's Nicole Alfaro Solis (6-1, 7-6) and Queens' Andreea Qnitolu (6-1, 6-3).
 
The Colonels have picked up the doubles point in two of their last four matches, highlighted by Masha Fedenko and Anastasiia Cherniakova on flight one, the duo is 7-10 overall when paired together.
 
After this weekend's set of matches, EKU will end the regular season with three at home against North Alabama (April 4), Lipscomb (April 6), and Central Arkansas (April 13).
 
Scouting Austin Peay
Austin Peay (4-11, 0-3 ASUN) is off to an 0-3 record to start conference play with losses to North Alabama, Lipscomb, and North Florida.  However, the Govs have picked up at least two or more points in each loss.  Last match, junior Sophia Baranov had a win for APSU on court No. 1 over North Florida's Laurie Barendse (3-6, 7-6, 10-6).
 
Scouting Bellarmine
Bellarmine (2-16, 0-5 ASUN) will host Queens on Friday before the Colonels come to town on Sunday.  The Knights are on a 10-match losing streak and are 0-5 to open league play with losses to North Alabama, Lipscomb, FGCU, North Florida, and Stetson.  Bellarmine's last win came against Marian University (Ind.) on Feb. 1.  Junior Vendula Kryslova leads the club with a 3-10 overall record and is 3-2 in her last three matches.
