RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University beach volleyball program opened the ASUN North Challenge in dominant fashion with a 5-0 sweep of Austin Peay on Friday.
After a lightning delay hit early in the match, the Colonels cruised, not dropping a single set against their conference foe.
"I think the team performed great tonight," said head coach Jeff Patton. "It's never easy coming out of a lightning delay, but the way we came out was great. They came out with a lot of energy and a sense of urgency about them. I told them they just needed to find it, and they did just that. It was just a fun atmosphere under lights and I'm proud of them."
"Tonight shows how we can come out and show out," said senior
Bella Williams. "Once we got the text coming out of the delay that it was time to go we just hit, and I'm so proud of my team for how we executed."
Madalyn Richardson and
Riley Cutler got things started for EKU at the 4's taking their match 21-16, 21-17 while one court over
