Wajer Rejoins EKU Women’s Basketball Staff as Assistant Coach

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University head women's basketball coach Greg Todd today announced the addition of Brie Wajer to the staff as an assistant coach. The hire completes the women's basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2025–26 season.

One of the rising stars in the profession, Wajer returns to EKU after spending the 2024–25 season at Army West Point, where she served as an assistant coach and led the program's player development efforts.

"We're thrilled to welcome Brie back to EKU," said Todd.  "Her strong work ethic and ability to connect with players left a lasting mark on our program.  She's bringing back valuable experience from Army's outstanding season, which included 25 wins and a WNIT victory. Brie's energy and leadership will be a difference-maker for us."

With West Point, Wajer played a key role in the Black Knights' 25-win season and runner-up finish in the Patriot League Women's Basketball Tournament.  The team went on to capture its first-ever national postseason victory, edging Bryant 59–58 in the opening round of the 2025 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).

Wajer also contributed to one of the nation's top defensive units.  Army ranked 26th nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 56.6 points per game.  The team held 17 opponents under their season-average in scoring defense and 10 opponents under 50 points.

Before her stint at West Point, Wajer spent two seasons at EKU from 2022–24 as an assistant coach and director of basketball operations.  During that period, the Colonels posted 40 total wins and a 23–6 (.793) record inside Baptist Health Arena.  EKU also produced five All-Atlantic Sun Conference selections and earned its first national postseason appearance since 2013.

In addition to coaching and player development, Wajer managed a wide range of responsibilities, including coordinating one of the most extensive travel schedules in women's college basketball, assisting with budget oversight, serving as the team's academic liaison, and facilitating team and student-athlete initiatives in the community.

Wajer earned her degree from Villanova University in 2021 after three seasons on the Wildcats' women's basketball team.  Following graduation, she joined Denise Dillon's staff as assistant director of basketball operations, contributing to a season that culminated in an NCAA Tournament appearance.
