Women’s Tennis Opens 2026 Season with Four Matches, Two at Home

Colonels Host ETSU on Tuesday, Marshall on Saturday Morning

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team will open the 2025-26 spring season over the next week with four matches, including two at home inside the Greg Adams Tennis Center.

EKU begins the season at home on Tuesday, Jan. 13, hosting East Tennessee State at 10 a.m. ET.

The Colonels will then play a split doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 17, hosting Marshall at 9 a.m. before traveling north later in the day for a Power Five matchup at Kentucky, scheduled for approximately 4 p.m.

EKU will wrap up the opening week of the season on Monday with a morning road match at Dayton.

Last season, the Colonels finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 9-19 overall record and posted five home victories. EKU opened the spring particularly strong, starting 4-2 from Jan. 16-24 with Division I wins over Northern Kentucky (6-1) and UNC Greensboro (4-1).

EKU returns nine players from last year's roster, including Marilou Cote, Sasha Parkhomenko, Ceylin Ipek, Izem Elif Olcer, Zhansaya Bakytzhan, Anastasiia Cherniakova, Masha Fedenko, Mariia Triska and Priya Harris.

Cote returns for her senior season after leading the team with 12 singles wins last year, primarily from the middle three courts. Fellow senior Parkhomenko, a native of Ukraine, followed with eight singles victories, most coming from court two.

Ipek and Olcer each recorded seven singles wins across various positions in the lineup, while EKU's top doubles tandem of Fedenko and Cherniakova combined for eight victories during the 2024-25 campaign.

Admission to the Greg Adams Tennis Center is free for the entire 2025-26 season. Fans unable to attend are encouraged to view the full schedule on EKUSports.com and follow EKU women's tennis on social media for live updates.
