BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis program will play four matches over the next week, opening with two Power Five matches at Indiana, Louisville, and two games at home next weekend.
EKU (1-3) will play at Indiana on Saturday, Jan. 31 with a start time of 3 p.m. ET. The Colonels will end the weekend with a match at Louisville on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m.
The Colonels will then open a six-match homestand next weekend beginning with Eastern Michigan on Friday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. and play Chattanooga the following day at 1 p.m.
The Colonels enter the stretch victorious in their last match against Dayton on Jan. 19, winning 5-2 on the road. Despite dropping the doubles point on all three courts, EKU thundered back to win 5-of-6 singles courts, with Sasha Parhkomenko,
Masha Fedenko, and
Izem Elif Olcer winning in straight sets.
On the year, Olcer leads the program with a perfect 2-0 singles record from court five and is on a two-match winning streak over Kentucky's Marina Fuduric (8-5) and Dayton's Mallory Hitchcock (2-6, 6-3, 6-2).
Parkhomenko enters the stretch with a 1-3 record from EKU's top court, she defeated her last opponent from Dayton, Natalie Osiecki, in straight sets 7-5, 6-0.
