Crucial Homestand for First-Place Colonels, Leading by Four Games in ASUN Standings

RICHMOND, Ky. – With the 2025-26 regular season winding down, the first-place Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball team hosts a crucial two-game homestand this week against Central Arkansas and North Alabama inside Baptist Health Arena.

Thursday's game against Central Arkansas is set to tip off at 6:30 p.m. ET and will serve as Residence Hall Night. Saturday's contest versus North Alabama is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip and will feature Senior Day festivities honoring a five-member 2026 class.

Tickets start at just $5 and are available at the door or online here.

Fans unable to attend can watch both games live on ESPN+ or listen for free on the Colonels All-Access page or @EKUWBB's X stream.

EKU enters week seven of league play with a 21-4 overall record and a perfect 12-0 mark in Atlantic Sun Conference action, the longest conference winning streak in program history. The Colonels also hold a four-game lead in the ASUN standings with six games remaining in the regular season and have won 14 straight games since Dec. 19, 2025.

The Colonels have also won 13 consecutive games against ASUN opponents dating back to last season. EKU has held 10 of its 12 conference opponents this season to 60 points or fewer and has limited opponents to 60 or fewer points in five consecutive games.

In its last outing, a 67-60 win over Austin Peay, senior forward Joseana Vaz scored a career-high 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting, including four 3-pointers, earning ASUN Newcomer of the Week honors for the third time this season.

Vaz's performance marked the 50th time in program history that a Colonel has scored 30 or more points in a game and tied for the 17th-most points in a single game in school history. She became the first EKU player since 2023 to score 30 in a game.

Following her career-high effort, Vaz now leads the team averaging 13.7 points per game and ranks second on the squad with 6.7 rebounds per contest.

Sophomore guard Liz Freihofer is next at 13.1 points per game and has knocked down 57 3-pointers. Senior guard Ndidiamaka Ndukwe ranks third on the team at 11.6 points per game, while freshman guard Kenleigh Woods rounds out the double-figure scorers at 11.0 per contest.

As a team, EKU leads the ASUN in scoring offense (75.1), scoring margin (15.2), field goal percentage (43.7), 3-point defense (25.1), free throw percentage (73.4), rebounding (40.1), defensive rebounds (29.2), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.16) and assists (15.9).

The Colonels are ranked No. 108 in the latest NCAA NET rankings released Tuesday, Feb. 11, the second-highest ranking in program history. EKU is also receiving 34 votes in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll for the 18th week of the Greg Todd era.

Scouting Central Arkansas
Central Arkansas (14-10, 7-5 ASUN) enters Thursday's matchup on a three-game winning streak after defeating North Alabama, 59-48, at home Monday night. Graduate guard Shae Littleford leads the Sugar Bears, averaging 14.6 points per game and scoring in double figures in each of her last eight contests.

EKU is 5-3 against UCA since the two programs became conference foes in 2021-22. The Colonels won the most recent meeting earlier this season in Conway on Jan. 10, 64-54, handing UCA just its fourth conference home loss under third-year head coach Tony Kemper.

Scouting North Alabama
North Alabama (12-11, 7-5 ASUN) will face winless Bellarmine before traveling to Richmond this weekend. The Lions have won three of their last four games, defeating FGCU, Austin Peay and Queens before falling to Central Arkansas, 59-48, on Monday night in a makeup game.

Senior Alexsandra Alvarado leads UNA, averaging 13.7 points per game. She has recorded three 20-point performances and one 30-point outing in her last seven games.
