JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis senior
Masha Fedenko named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week going a perfect 8-0 in four matches last week.
The honor is the first ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week award of Fedenko's career.
A native of Dnipro, Ukraine, Fedenko was crucial in EKU's success last week as the team won four-straight matches at home against Northern Kentucky, UNC Asheville, Western Kentucky, and Bowling Green.
She went 8-0 on the week, posting 4-0 doubles record with dominant 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, and 6-4 victories.
In singles, Fedenko won 6-1, 6-2 over NKU's Sydney Zakic, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 over UNC Asheville's Isabella Moss, 6-2, 6-1 over WKU's Andra Sirbu, and 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 over BGSU's Kiera Taylor, rounding out the most complete week of her collegiate career.
On the season, Fedenko now boats a positive 6-5 overall record in singles play primarily playing from court two. She is also now 5-4 in doubles play playing on EKU's top flight.
EKU returns to action on Thursday, traveling to face Mississippi State in Starkville. The Colonels will play their next four on the road with three matches against Power 5 Southeastern Conference (SEC) competition.
