FLORENCE, Ala. – Riding a four-match winning streak, the Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team hits the road for four matches this week, including three against Southeastern Conference opponents.
EKU (6-6) opens the trip Thursday at Mississippi State (9-1) in Starkville, Mississippi. First serve is set for 5 p.m. ET. The Colonels will then face their first Atlantic Sun Conference opponent of the season on Friday, taking on North Alabama (6-2) at 11 a.m. ET in Florence, Alabama.
The road swing concludes Saturday with a doubleheader in Auburn, Alabama. EKU will face No. 4 Auburn (16-1) at 4 p.m. ET before squaring off against Arkansas (8-2) later in the day.
The Colonels enter the week after sweeping four consecutive dual matches at home from Feb. 13-15. EKU defeated Northern Kentucky (6-1), UNC Asheville (4-3), Western Kentucky (4-2) and Bowling Green (5-2) during the stretch.
Senior
Masha Fedenko has won four straight singles matches, earning ASUN Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17.
Competing primarily from court two, Fedenko defeated Northern Kentucky's Sydney Zakic (6-1, 6-2), UNC Asheville's Isabella Moss (6-1, 2-6, 6-2), Western Kentucky's Andra Sirbu (6-2, 6-1) and Bowling Green's Kiera Taylor (4-6, 6-4, 6-1).
As EKU returns to full strength, fellow seniors
Sasha Parkhomenko and
Marilou Cote also picked up singles victories in the win over Bowling Green, earning straight-set wins from courts three and four.
