SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Eastern Kentucky University beach volleyball team dropped a pair of 4-1 matches to Lindenwood and Missouri State on day one of the Beach Bears Bash.
The freshman duo of
Carlyn Mcallister and
Sutton Sales accounted for EKU's lone point against Lindenwood, cruising to a straight-set victory in the fourth flight, 21-12, 21-10.
At the top flight,
Elpida Pitsigkoni and
Gabriella Armitage battled back after dropping the opening set, taking the second 21-16 to force a decisive third, but ultimately came up short.
Against host Missouri State, Mcallister and Sales remained perfect on the season, improving to 6-0 with a gritty three-set win in the fourth flight, 21-19, 13-21, 19-17.
Pitsigkoni and Armitage once again pushed the Bears at No. 1, claiming the opening set 21-17 before falling in three.

Day two of the Beach Bears Bash begins Saturday as the Colonels face Southwest Baptist at 8 a.m. before wrapping up the tournament against Central Arkansas at 2 p.m.
