CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Eastern Kentucky beach volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday to close out the regular season at the Scenic City Tournament.

The Colonels opened the day with a 4-1 victory over UT Martin before falling 4-1 to Chattanooga in the tournament finale. The win over the Skyhawks marked a historic moment for the program, as EKU secured its 17th victory of the season to set a new single-season program record for most wins in a season.

The record-setting campaign adds to the continued rise of the Colonels program in recent seasons, securing a fourth straight winning season after earning the program's first-ever ASUN Tournament victory last year.

EKU finishes the regular season at 17 wins and now turns its focus toward postseason play at the ASUN Championships.

MATCH ONE: EKU 4, UT Martin 1

The Colonels struck first in the fifth flight as
Arilyn Lee and
Sutton Sales earned a straight-set victory, 21-9, 22-20, to put EKU ahead 1-0.

UT Martin answered in the fourth flight to even the match at 1-1, but EKU quickly regained control.
Gabriella Armitage and
Elpida Pitsigkoni delivered a dominant performance in the second flight, winning 21-14, 21-11.

Amanda Floystad and
Carlyn Mcallister secured another point in the third flight after battling through three sets, 21-18, 15-21, 15-12.

The Colonels closed out the historic win in the top flight, where
Molly Shomock and
Riley Cutler won in straight sets, 21-17, 21-16.

MATCH TWO: EKU 1, CHATTANOOGA 4

In the second match of the day, Chattanooga earned the team victory, but the Colonels once again found success in the second flight.
Gabriella Armitage and
Elpida Pitsigkoni picked up EKU's lone point with a three-set win, 25-23, 18-21, 15-12.

The Colonels also pushed the fifth flight to a deciding third set, but Chattanooga was able to hold on and secure the match.
