RICHMOND, Ky. – It was a busy day for the Eastern Kentucky University track and field program on Friday as the Colonels hosted the EKU Invitational, producing multiple top-three finishes.
On the track,
Ty Blair and
Will Cahill got things started with a one-two finish in the men's 1,500 meters in times of 3:54.93 and 3:55.00 respectively.
Morgan Kobylinksi and
Ann Kiplagat produced a first, second finish themselves in the women's 1,500 meters in 4:40.21 and 4:46.84 respectively.
Hamish Murray kept things going with a first-place finish in the men's 800m in 1:53.87 while the women of EKU swept the podium thanks to
Metrine Serem in 2:08.45,
Khadija Ennasri in 2:11.31, and
Bryce Alan Thornsbury in 2:17.83.
In the field, Matt See took the top spot in the men's shot put with a season opening mark of 15.95m.
On the women's side,
Lariah Wooden picked right up from her indoor conference title with a top-place finish with a throw of 13.34m followed teammate
Amya Livingston in second with a throw of 12.52m.
William Kissick took second in the men's discus with a mark of 49.04m while
Ava Phillips and
Kristan Simmons took second and third for the women with throws of 41.73m and 41.16m.
JJ Love added another top-three finish in the men's hammer with a throw of 51.73m to earn second, while Simmons matched for the women with a throw of 48.91m.
The Colonels continue the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays beginning on March 26.
