EKU Baseball Set To Host Morehead State On Tuesday

RICHMOND, Ky. – Longtime rivals Eastern Kentucky University and Morehead State will meet on the baseball diamond on Tuesday at Earle Combs Stadium in Richmond.
 
The game will begin at 6 p.m. and air live on ESPN+.
 
It will be $2 Day with tickets, popcorn, hot dogs and beer priced at $2 each.  It will also be Little League Day, with discounted tickets for local little league players, their friends and family (Click here to purchase).  EKU baseball trading cards will be given to the first 50 fans.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU fell to 7-17 and 2-4 in the Atlantic Sun Conference after suffering a 3-game sweep at North Alabama over the weekend.  Two of the losses were by just two runs.
 
-  In the 3-game series at North Alabama, shortstop Pedro Moreno hit .500 (4-for-8) with five RBIs, four runs, two home runs, one double and one triple.  He had a 1.625 slugging percentage and drew six walks for a .733 on-base percentage.
 
-  EKU is third in the ASUN with 40 steals this season.  Austin Peay and Stetson lead the conference with 44 stolen bases.
 
-  The Colonels have struck out the second fewest times in the ASUN.
 
-  Clay Cartledge pitched two scoreless innings in his appearance at North Alabama on Sunday.  He did not allow a hit and walked one.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Morehead State is 10-14 overall and 0-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference.  The Eagles have lost six straight, including a sweep at home against Southern Illinois Edwardsville over the weekend.
 
-  Designated hitter Aubrey Kearns leads the team in average (.436), runs (27), doubles (9) and RBIs (28).  The sophomore is tied for second on the team with seven home runs.
 
-  Center fielder Kyle Krupp is hitting .368 and has a team-best 14 stolen bases.
 
-  Devin Costa has been MSU's top arm out of the bullpen, making a team-high 11 appearances.  The junior right-hander is 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA and two saves.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU is 149-127-3 all-time against Morehead State and 81-45-3 in games played in Richmond.  The Colonels have won seven of the last eight meetings.
 
-   In the most recent meeting, on April 9, 2025, EKU earned a 3-1 victory in Richmond.  Julius Scearce drove in all three runs, starting with a 2-run triple in the first and then adding a sacrifice fly in the third.
