Colonel Baseball Plays At NKU On Tuesday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will play at Northern Kentucky on Tuesday.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU dropped to 10-34 this season and 4-17 in Atlantic Sun Conference games after suffering a 3-game sweep at home against North Alabama over the weekend.
 
-  In the last four games, freshmen Cooper Pumphrey and Clay Cartledge have combined to make four appearances without allowing an earned run.  The duo struck out four in 2 2/3 innings combined.
 
-  Silas Shaffer hit .400 with three runs, a double, one home run and two RBIs in the 3-game series against North Alabama.
 
-  Hayden Collins made two appearances, including one start, in three games against UNA.  He allowed just one run in four innings and struck out three.
 
-  Gavin Faulkner leads the pitching staff with 21 appearances this season.  The senior left-hander has struck out 36 batters in 28 1/3 innings of work.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Northern Kentucky sits at 20-22 overall and 9-9 in the Horizon League.  The Norse are 14-5 at home this season and coming of a home sweep of Oakland.  NKU scored 49 runs in the 3-game series.
 
-  Marcus Harrison leads the team with a .354 batting average.  He also has three home runs, 10 doubles, 35 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
 
-  Jake Paulick leads the team in home runs (10), RBIs (38) and runs scored (42) while hitting .333.
 
-  Gannon Wentz has made 19 appearances out of the bullpen and is 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA.  He has struck out 25 in 27 innings this season.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels lead the all-time series 32-20-1 and are 13-10-1 in games played in Highland Heights.  EKU has won two in a row and four of the last six against the Norse.
 
-   In the most recent meeting, on Feb. 17 in Richmond, the Colonels earned a 16-11 victory.  Pedro Moreno went 3-for-4 with two walks, three runs and three RBIs for EKU.  Paulick had a 2-for-4 game with two runs and six RBIs for NKU.
