Colonels Earn Three Silver Medals on Day One of ASUN Outdoor Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
– Three Colonels won three silver medals on day one of the ASUN Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday at Hodges Stadium.
 
Following one day of action, the EKU men sit in third place with 27 points, while the EKU women are in fourth with 13 points.
 
Newcomer Alex Camarca jump started the Colonel men by winning his first career ASUN medal in the javelin. The Fort Myers, Florida native finished second with a throw of 55.99 meters.
 
The Colonels then collected 11 points in the men's hammer. Daroyce Flemons placed fourth with a school-record throw of 53.82 meters. JJ Love was right behind him in fifth with a toss of 51.63 meters. Matthew See placed seventh with a throw of 50.71 meters, adding two points.
 
Cosmas Kiprop rounded out the scoring for the EKU men on the day, winning silver in 10,000 meters. He ran a time of 30:27.26 for his first career ASUN medal.
 
On the women's side, Senda Garma highlighted the first day by taking silver in the hammer for the second consecutive year. Her throw of 55.69 meters broke her own school record in the event. Kristan Simmons added points with a fourth-place finish in the hammer (54.12 meters).
