JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Twin brothers
Tomas Vega and
German Vega swept the top two spots in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase to highlight EKU's second day at the ASUN Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Hodges Stadium.
The Vega twins combined to score 18 points for the EKU men with their stellar performance under the lights.
Tomas Vega took gold with a time of 8:55.08, while
German Vega edged two runners at the line to grab silver with a personal-best time of 8:57.80.
William Kissick also medaled for the Colonel men on Friday. The Richmond native earned silver in the discus with a throw of 46.53 meters.
Tenzing Lindeman added points for the Colonels by finishing seventh in the discus with a toss of 42.65 meters.
After two days of action, the EKU men sit in second place with 55 points.
Khadija Ennasri highlighted the day for the EKU women, taking silver in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:27.50. It is Ennasri's third consecutive steeplechase medal at the ASUN Outdoor Championships.
Amya Livingston (seventh / 13.55 meters) and
Lariah Wooden (eighth / 13.50 meters) contributed points for the women in the shot put.
The EKU women sit in sixth place with 24 points entering Championship Saturday.
