EKU Stays On The Road To Face Austin Peay For Weekend Series

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – After a road win at Western Kentucky on Wednesday, Eastern Kentucky University will stay on the road to face Austin Peay for a 3-game series this weekend.
 
The series opener on Friday will begin at 7 p.m. ET.  Saturday's contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.  The finale on Sunday will start at 2 p.m. ET.  All three games will air live on ESPN+.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 13-36 this season after beating in-state rival WKU, 5-3, on Wednesday.
 
-  Ricco Longo went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI against the Hilltoppers.
 
-  Griffin Howell has made three straight appearances, covering four innings, without allowing a run.  He has given up just three hits and has two saves over that time.
 
-  Khaleel Pratt is fourth in the nation having been hit by a pitch 25 times.
 
-  Saturday starter Jacob Price earned Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week honors after turning in his fifth quality start of the season with seven shutout innings and a season-high eight strikeouts against Lipscomb last weekend.  He walked one and allowed only four hits.  Lipscomb was second in the ASUN with a .293 batting average, but Price held the Bisons to a .167 average.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Austin Peay is 23-25 overall and 13-11 in the ASUN this season.  The Governors won a series at home against Central Arkansas last weekend, but lost 7-5 at Southeast Missouri in a non-conference game on Wednesday.
 
-  Zion Taylor has a team-best .344 batting average to go along with 14 doubles, nine home runs, 42 RBIs and 49 runs scored.
 
-  Ray Velazquez leads the team in home runs (13) and runs scored (50) while hitting .306.  Paris Pridgen has 28 stolen bases in 32 attempts and his batting .319 this season.
 
-  Cody Airington has started 12 times for APSU and is 4-2 with a 4.82 ERA.  He has struck out 42 batters in 52 1/3 innings.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  Austin Peay has a 72-60 advantage in the series that dates back to 1979.  The Governors are 36-20 in games played in Clarksville and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings overall.
 
-  Austin Peay clinched a series win with a 12-9 victory over the Colonels on April 4 in Richmond.  Khaleel Pratt hit two home runs for EKU, finishing 2-for-4 with a walk, three runs and three RBIs.  Andres Matias went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs for APSU.
