Jepchumba Earns Second Team All-America Honors in the 10,000 Meters

EUGENE, Ore. – Eastern Kentucky University freshman Brighter Jepchumba finished 16th in the women's 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday night at Hayward Field.
 
Jepchumba ran 32:48.61 to earn second team All-America honors.
 
She is the second Colonel in the last two days to earn second team All-America honors. Miguel Baidal finished 9th in the men's 10,000 meters on Wednesday night.
 
Jepchumba is the second Colonel in the last two years to claim second team All-America honors in the women's 10K. Her teammate, Edna Chelulei, finished 12th in the race at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships.
 
Jepchumba and Chelulei will both race in the women's 5,000 meters on Saturday night at 9:55 p.m. ET.
