RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team won all six singles in straight sets in a 7-0 victory over Chattanooga Saturday in the Greg Adams Tennis Center. The Colonels improve to 4-2 while the Mocs fall to 2-3.
Senior
Svetlana Pimenova, the preseason top player in the OVC, cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Shaina Singh at No. 1 singles. Fellow senior
Alexandra Sitnikova picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
“I think our intensity in singles was the difference today,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “We came out a bit flat in doubles, but I hope we can repeat our singles’ intensity the rest of the year.”
Eastern Kentucky is right back in action tomorrow, Feb. 8, with a home match against Indiana State. The match is set to start at 2 p.m.
