EKU Rolls to 7-0 Victory in Women's Tennis

Senior Svetlana Pimenova
CHARLESTON, Ill. – After a 10-day break, the Eastern Kentucky University women’s tennis team returned to action with a 7-0 win over host Eastern Illinois. The match was the OVC opener for both squads.

Eastern Kentucky (12-5, 1-0 OVC) took all six singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Nadja Barz clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles.

“We certainly had a shot in the arm today with the return of Svetlana Pimenova,” EKU head coach Rob Oertel said. “She may have been a bit rusty, but she added lots of confidence to the team.”

With the loss, Eastern Illinois falls to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in the OVC.

The Colonels are back in action next weekend with three OVC road matches.
