RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team will take on Miami University this Tuesday and Wednesday in a midweek home-and-home series. The Colonels will host the RedHawks at Turkey Hughes Field on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. and then will travel to Oxford on Wednesday to play at Miami at McKie Field at 6:00 p.m.
The Colonels (7-10) will look to end a recent slide in which they have lost seven of their last eight games.
The RedHawks (8-9) recently dropped two of three at OVC foe Jacksonville State.
EKU leads the all-time series between the two schools, 5-4. The Colonels and the RedHawks split a home-and-home series last year, as the home team won both times.
The Colonels will start sophomore lefty
Greg Terry on Tuesday and freshman right-hander on
Austin Rexroat on Wednesday. Terry (1-1) leads the EKU staff with 10 appearances and a 3.66 ERA while Rexroat (1-0) is second on the team with nine appearances and recently picked up his first career win in the Colonels’ 5-2 victory over Purdue.
Miami will send sophomore right-hander Joe Neff to the mound on Tuesday and will turn to sophomore right-hander Lance Kingrey on Wednesday. Neff is 1-0 with a 4.15 ERA while Kingrey has yet to pitch this season.
The Colonels are led offensively by a pair of juniors,
Jayson Langfels and
Ryan Faidley, both of whom are hitting over .400. Senior
Anthony Ottrando leads EKU with 22 RBI at the cleanup spot in the lineup.
Miami is paced at the plate by Adam Weisenburger, who comes into this week hitting .383 with a team-best 17 RBI, and Jordan Jankowski, who comes in batting .382.
