LIVE STATS

RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team will host Marshall on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in a midweek non-conference affair at Turkey Hughes Field. The Colonels (11-11, 3-0 OVC) have won four of their last five and, after sweeping Eastern Illinois over the weekend, sit alone atop of the OVC standings.

Marshall (10-12, 1-2 C-USA) dropped two of three at Tulane over the weekend.

Junior Jayson Langfels continues to have an All-American caliber season for the Colonels. The third baseman is hitting .424 with 10 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. He has also driven in 24 runs and is slugging .826 on the year.

Sophomore Richie Rodriguez is currently in the midst of an OVC-best 15-game hitting streak and is now batting .389 on the year because of it. The speedy shortstop has also scored 18 runs and leads the Colonels with seven stolen bases.

Victor Gomez has paced Marshall offensively in 2010. The hard-hitting Gomez is batting .371 and leads the Thundering Herd in runs (18), doubles (seven), home runs (seven) and RBI (30).

Freshman right-hander Austin Rexroat will start on the mound for EKU, although several staff members will probably pitch during the game. Rexroat is 1-1 on the year with a 6.61 ERA.

One of the staff members who might see action on Wednesday is sophomore right-hander Matt Harris. Harris was named the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, following a week in which he was nearly unhittable in four appearances. The Lexington, Ky. native pitched 9.1 innings of relief, allowed one hit and struck out eight while earning two conference victories over EIU.

Right-hander Mike Cavalli is scheduled to pitch for the Thundering Herd. Caveli enters the week with a 1-0 record and a 3.72 ERA.

The Colonels lead the all-time series between the two schools, 27-18. The series split last season as EKU won, 10-7, at home but then lost, 5-1, at Marshall.

EKU will travel to SEMO this weekend to take on the Redhawks in a conference series in Cape Girardeau.
