EKU Baseball Set for Midweek Home-and-Home Series with Indiana

RICHMOND, Ky.
– The Eastern Kentucky University baseball team is set to play a home-and-home series with Indiana this week. The Colonels and the Hoosiers will meet on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Turkey Hughes Field, and again on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Sembower Field in Bloomington, Ind.

EKU (7-11) had won four of its last five games before dropping two straight to Bowling Green State at home over the weekend. Senior Jacob Daniel hit .455 with a home run, double and seven RBI in the three-game set with BGSU.

Senior Richie Rodriguez continues to lead EKU at the plate, as he enters this week batting .364 with seven home runs, four doubles, 20 RBI and 16 runs scored. Junior Austin Grisham (.338) and senior #A.J. Jamison# (.333) are also swinging the bat well.

IU (6-13), which dropped two-of–three games at Loyola Marymount over the weekend, has not played a home game yet this season. Wednesday’s game will be the Hoosiers’ home opener. IU is paced offensively by Chad Clark, who comes into this week hitting .375 with a pair of home runs. Chris Sujka, meanwhile, leads IU with 16 RBI.

EKU will send sophomore right-hander Blake Bottoms (0-1, 15.43 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday and freshman right-hander Cody Creamer (0-0, 5.06 ERA) to the mound on Wednesday.

IU will counter with right-hander Luke Harrison (0-0, 8.31 ERA) on Tuesday and left-hander Collin McEnery (0-0, 9.00 ERA) on Wednesday.

EKU leads the all-time series between the two schools, 7-2. EKU and IU last met in 2006 when the Colonels defeated the Hoosiers, 7-6.

Following this week’s home-and-home with IU, EKU opens the Ohio Valley Conference schedule in a three-game set with Jacksonville State at Turkey Hughes Field.
