RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team opened Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday morning with a convincing 7-0 win over Jacksonville State. Due to rainy conditions, the match was played indoors at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
EKU (6-6, 1-0 OVC) won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. Senior
Marcela Jimenez did not drop a game in her win at No. 4 singles. Fellow senior
Kristina Labeja picked up her fourth straight win with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 2 singles. Meanwhile, sophomore
Marina Marti, who was playing her first match of the season at No. 3 singles, tallied a 6-4, 6-4 triumph.
